We love baskets here and even more so a wall basket!
Our wall baskets are traditional grain winnowing baskets, handmade by the Batonga people in the Binga district of Zimbabwe and are woven from the Ilala palm leaf. They start out as a woven square, ending up almost perfectly round once fully woven!
Palm fibres are dyed using tree bark to make create the different colours you see woven into each piece and coloured twine is and then woven in to create the colour in these particular baskets.
