Pair of Vintage Erzgebirge Nutcrackers

A wonderful pair of ‘armless’ vintage Nutcrackers from Erzgebirge, or the Ore Mountains, the world-famous forest region for handmade wooden products in Germany. 
These chaps are still in nut cracking condition (many have lost the back handle), with bold hand painted colours, one with rabbit fur hair and the other will wool hair. They do each have an arm missing, which is why they are being sold together.
Nutcrackers came in many forms, but the ones  depicted as a soldiers are meant to protect your house from bad energy and spirits with their strength and power.
