19th Century Oil on Canvas Portrait by Harris Sons & Co

This is an absolutely fabulous oil on canvas portrait of a clergyman, dating from the 1800's and produced by Harris Sons & Co of Merthyr Tidvyl. Some craquelure and paint loss present, plus a little damage to the frame. 
 
You can just determine the lettering 'Harris' at the bottom right of the portrait but sadly the remaining letters have faded and are now unreadable. However, it is almost certain that this would have been painted by the very well respected Welsh portrait and landscape painter, George Frederick Harris (1856–1924) Grandfather of Rolf Harris. 
 
It is a wonderful piece of artwork and easily our favourite to date.
